WASHINGTON – With the future of the leadership of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) hanging in the balance, it’s not just conservatives highlighting the many scandals and controversies around its embattled chair, Lina Khan. Many left-leaning voices, including those publicly backing the Biden-Harris ticket, have expressed concern with Khan’s ideology and ambition and its impact on American competitiveness:
- Mark Cuban: “When asked if he believed Harris should keep Khan on, he said ‘If it were me, I wouldn’t. By trying to break up the biggest tech companies, you risk our ability to be the best in artificial intelligence.’”
- LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman: “‘Lina Khan is…a person who is not helping America. I would hope that Vice President Harris would replace her.’ Hoffman further pointed out that Khan is operating ‘outside the scope’ of the agency’s power and said ‘Antitrust is fine…Waging war is not.’”
- IAC Chairman Barry Diller: “‘She’s smart but I believe overreaches in disrupting sensible business combinations.’ Diller also highlighted that Khan is against ‘almost anything’ businesses want to do to grow efficiently.”
