WASHINGTON – In the aftermath of President-elect Donald Trump’s sweeping victory, Scott Brown, chair of the Competitiveness Coalition, urged the immediate replacement of Lina Khan, chair of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC):

“Last night, the country sent a clear and equivocal message that it’s time to turn the page on the status quo and failed policies of the Biden Administration,” said Brown, a former U.S. Senator and Ambassador. “Exit polling data showed that the American economy is off track, and Lina Khan’s out-of-control FTC is a big reason why. As one of his first actions, I urge President-elect Trump to end Khan’s reckless regime and restore the FTC to its intended mission of protecting American consumers, not taking a wrecking ball to our innovators.”

“If President-elect Trump needed any further evidence of the danger posed by Khan’s continued service, he should look no further than the radical leftists and outright socialists rushing to her defense,” added Brown. “American innovators have no bigger obstacle than Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.”

According to exit polls, two-thirds of voters rated the economy as “not so good” or “poor,” compared to just one-third who rated it as “excellent” or “good.”

• U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT): “Lina Khan is the best FTC Chair in modern history. By taking on corporate greed & illegal monopolies, Lina is doing an exceptional job preventing large corporations from ripping-off consumers & exploiting workers.”

• U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY): “Anyone goes near Lina Khan and there will be an out and out brawl. And that is a promise. She proves this admin fights for working people. It would be terrible leadership to remove her.”

• U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA): “(Lina Khan) has been a fearless champion for consumers. She’s brought deep knowledge and expertise to the agency, and has shown us what it looks like when government works for working people.”
