Scott Brown: Chair Khan’s Testimony Left No Doubt FTC is Undeserving of Massive Budget Increase

WASHINGTON – Today, Scott Brown, chair of the Competitiveness Coalition, praised the House Energy and Commerce Innovation, Data and Commerce (IDC) Subcommittee’s hearing on the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) fiscal 2024 budget:

“Chair Khan’s evasive and unresponsive performance today left no doubt that the FTC is undeserving of its nearly 40 percent budget increase request. Chair Khan had no answers on the many controversies shrouding her tenure, from allegations of power grabs, to the high-profile resignation of the last remaining Republican member of the Commission, to its attempt to levy far-reaching regulations well beyond its jurisdiction. I commend Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers and IDC Subcommittee Chair Gus Bilirakis for convening today’s hearing and calling attention to an agency that is running amok. Reforms and guardrails are desperately needed to rein in this rogue agency immediately.”
