Brown on the FTC: “They’re looking basically at breaking up these large employers and companies that help keep prices low in a lot of instances.”
WASHINGTON – Competitiveness Coalition Chair Scott Brown recently joined SiriusXM’s The Julie Mason Show to discuss his recent piece in The Daily Caller on how the Biden-Harris administration’s radical antitrust policies make life more expensive for everyday Americans.
When asked to summarize his op-ed, Brown, a former U.S. Senator and Ambassador, shared how the FTC, under Chair Lina Khan, continues to attack businesses that are keeping prices down and delivering services. “It has been that way since almost day one. And they’re not looking at the Consumer [Welfare] Standard. They’re looking basically at breaking up these large employers and companies that help keep prices low in a lot of instances.”
Brown continued by highlighting the Competitiveness Coalition’s exclusive polling showing little support among battleground state voters for aggressive measures against America’s innovators: “Whether it’s Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, Pennsylvania, the battleground states, they believe that punitive actions against these tech companies will basically result in price hikes, and that’s not the way to do it. There’s a problem. Let’s not just destroy it and give a competitive advantage to China and other companies around the world.”
Hardworking Americans are facing skyrocketing prices attributed to the Biden-Harris administration’s misguided competition-related policies: “[Ordinary folks] recognize that gas prices are up, energy prices, including home heating oil, etc, are up. The cost of eggs and all of our goods are up. Insurance, labor, everything is up as a result of, and obviously the government spending is a result of what’s happening with this government. And all the bad policies they’re putting in, the overregulation, the over-taxation, the overspending, and that’s why prices are up,” said Brown.
