Competitiveness Coalition Sounds The Alarm that Amazon Prime Day Could Soon Be A Thing of the Past

WASHINGTON – As more than 180 million Americans prepare to take advantage of Amazon’s Prime Day Deals, the Competitiveness Coalition today urged regulators and policymakers to rethink whether their misguided efforts to dismantle a homegrown company offering a wide-range of goods at affordable prices is truly in the best interest of consumers.

Notably, Amazon’s famous sale has prompted other retailers to take action: ‘Walmart Deals’, ‘Target Circle Week,’ ‘Kohl’s Summer Cyber Deals,’ and more will be held on or close to the same time period.

“Prime Day is not only a great opportunity for hardworking families to take advantage of discounts, but also for small and medium sized businesses to showcase their products to a large audience. American regulators need to step back and let our innovators do what they do best: innovate and serve their users and customers to the best of their abilities, without being kneecapped by wrongheaded policies and enforcement that only serves to end free shipping, raise prices and slow delivery times,” says the Competitiveness Coalition. “We hope this year’s sale will not be the last, and that Washington will recognize there’s fierce competition in this market ”

For more than three years, the Competitiveness Coalition has been sounding the alarm on the egregious government overreach and concerning actions by U.S. regulators.
