Competitiveness Coalition Chairman Ronna McDaniel Welcomes Nomination of David MacNeil to Serve on the FTC

WASHINGTON – After President Donald Trump officially nominated WeatherTech CEO David MacNeil to serve as a Commissioner on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Ronna McDaniel, chairman of the Competitiveness Coalition, released the following statement:

“David MacNeil is a proven American innovator and job creator, and I look forward to hearing more about his vision for the FTC from the perspective of a successful entrepreneur over the coming weeks and months. In less than a year, the Trump Administration has made tremendous strides in reversing the economic overregulation of its predecessor, especially at the FTC, and we should take great care not to repeat their mistakes. Under former Chair Lina Khan, the FTC became a weapon against American free enterprise, and consumers paid dearly with record inflation and higher prices. History tells us that a commitment to consumer welfare and common sense are the best ingredients toward a competitive economic environment where innovators and customers alike can thrive and prosper. I’m hopeful the Senate will move swiftly on David MacNeil’s nomination, given his unique experience and previous success, and look forward to watching him help the FTC deliver on its objective to protect consumers and foster innovation.”

MacNeil will replace former Commissioner Melissa Holyoak, who was appointed as the interim U.S. Attorney for Utah. If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, MacNeil’s FTC term will officially end on September 25, 2032.
