Brown: “Lina Khan’s War On American Success Hurts Consumers, Put The Kibosh On The Next Round Of Great American Innovation.”
WASHINGTON – In response to a federal judge ruling that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) can proceed with its antitrust lawsuit against Amazon, Competitiveness Coalition Chair Scott Brown warned that savings on electronics, home goods, toys, clothes and more could disappear if FTC Chair Lina Khan’s war on American innovation is allowed to continue:
“To the more than 180 million Amazon Prime subscribers hoping Big Deal Days can deliver some relief from rampant inflation: take advantage of the convenience and low prices while you still can,” said Brown, a former U.S. Senator and Ambassador. “From shopping to groceries to airlines, Lina Khan continues to toss a wet blanket on consumers and many of America’s most successful economic engines. Her efforts to dismantle any company she decides is ‘too big’ come at a time when consumer confidence has plummeted to the lowest in three years. Lawsuits that abandon the consumer welfare standard in favor of a radical and reflexive anti-business and anti-growth approach will not only raise prices while degrading the consumer experience, but also put the kibosh on the next round of great American innovation.”
For more than two years, the Competitiveness Coalition has been sounding the alarm on the FTC’s egregious overreach and concerning actions.
