Chair Brown on Amazon Prime Day: Enjoy It Now Before The Biden Administration Gets Their Way

NEW HAMPSHIRE – As Americans everywhere enjoy the savings of Amazon Prime Day, Competitiveness Coalition Chair Scott Brown chided the Biden Administration’s Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for continuing its anti-consumer campaign against American innovation:

“During these Prime Days, enjoy the low prices, convenience, choice and fast shipping that it has to offer, but also remember that if Chair Lina Khan has her way, Amazon Prime will go away forever,” said Chair Scott Brown. “So too will cheaper groceries, fast-food sandwiches, new disease-fighting drugs and innovation by American tech companies, just a few of the technologies and innovations targeted by Chair Khan.”

According to recent data, 75% of U.S. shoppers have Prime memberships. In 2017, Khan’s article in the Yale Law Journal, “Amazon’s Antitrust Paradox,” argued that modern antitrust laws’ consumer welfare standard is wrong, and accused Amazon of having prices that were too low. Last year, as Chair of the FTC, she sued Amazon for having prices that are too high.

For over two years, the Competitiveness Coalition has been sounding the alarm on the FTC’s egregious overreach and concerning actions.
