WASHINGTON – Citing the need for strong oversight of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in the waning days of the Biden Administration, Competitiveness Coalition Chair Scott Brown applauded U.S. House passage of the Midnight Rules Relief Act, legislation amending the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to allow Congress to disapprove multiple rules through one joint resolution if those rules were issued during the last year of a President’s term in office.
“Since Lina Khan took over the FTC, this agency has intervened in nearly every sector of American business by targeting titans of industry for their success, kneecapping innovators trying to keep pace with China, and disregarding the welfare of consumers,” said Chair Brown. “This bill will go a long way toward making sure power-hungry figureheads like FTC Chair Khan are not able to unilaterally issue regulations in the waning days of the Biden Administration. I applaud House Republicans for passing this bill and hope it will also see immediate action in the next Congress so activist bureaucrats are on notice that the days of issuing mindless and oppressive rules, regulations, and mandates are long gone.”
