On Amazon Prime Day, Chairman Ronna McDaniel Warns Of Pending Danger

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As more than 200 million Americans prepare for this week’s Amazon Prime Days, Competitiveness Coalition Chairman Ronna McDaniel called on regulators and policymakers to reconsider whether misguided efforts like the American Innovation and Choice Online Act (AICOA) and costly lawsuits that would waste taxpayer dollars and risk our national security while degrading the consumer experience.

“Families across America have Prime Day marked on our calendar every year to make sure our dollars stretch as far as possible,” said McDaniel, a former four-term Republican National Committee (RNC) chair. “Prime Day has not only directly cut prices for Amazon’s customers, it’s launched a host of sales by Amazon’s competitors, like Best Buy’s Tech Fest, Target’s Circle Deal Days, and Walmart’s Summer Deals, just to name a few. As Americans take advantage of these deals and convenience, I hope our lawmakers and regulators ask themselves if breaking up companies like Amazon or restricting their growth and operations through bills like AICOA are in their constituents’ best interest. After all, not only do we want there to be many more Prime Days to come, we also want the next great idea or innovation to take hold in a marketplace that encourages development rather than inhibits it.”
